Scientific NotationThis is a featured page

Scientific Notation- A shorthand way of writing very large or very small numbers.

2.23 x 10 to the power of 4 = 22300

The population of texas is 21000000 but if you don't want to write all those zeros.
you can write it in scientific notation!!!
2.1x10 to the power of 7!!!!

1.8 x 10 to the 4th times 1 x 10 to the 3rd.
add the exponents and multilpy the bases.
so you get 1.8 x 10 to the 7th.

Notes- Scientific notation is common in astrology and science. where many thousands of miles need to be abrevieated, or you don't want to write .0000000000000003 mg of something.
