Scientific Method

Definitions- -Scientific Method is a system of gathering information and testing idea. One of the steps is -Observation- One of the six steps of the scientific method is an examination of something in nature. -Hypothesis- is a possible answer to a question. Usually you make a hypothesis after you do research on your subject -Experiment- a procedure designed to test a hypothesis -Variable- a quantity that can have more than a single variable .
Formula
  1. Observation
  2. Research
  3. Hypothesis
  4. Experiment
  5. Collect and analyze data
  6. Conclusion

Units N/A

Everyday example Forensic investigators (CSI) When they go to a crime scene they have to observe the crime scene using scientific method. Then the C.S.I.’s make a hypothesis about what happened to their victim. They have to collect and analyze evidence, or data, to see what happened to the victim, or how they died. To know what the victim is like, if they had enemies or quickly bought life insurance, they do research. The coroner makes observations about the dead bodies to try and figure out how they died. They experiment with the evidence to see if they can place what happened to the person. And then they have to tell there boss what the conclusion was by figuring out the crimes.

Explanation/Notes
The scientific method is a technique used in scientific studies. It involves six elaborate steps; observation, research, hypothesis, experiment, collect and analyze data, and the conclusion. The observation usually leads to questions that become the topic of the scientific study. From there the hypothesis is formed to make an attempt to answer the questions formed by the observations. The hypothesis then leads to a series of experiments which test the hypothesis. From the results of the experiments you gather your results and collect and analyze your data. The result of your data is used to form your conclusion.
